Ivermectol – Ivermectin 6MG Tablets

Ivermectin is the active ingredient in Vermectin or Stromectol. It is classed as an anti-parasitic drug used to treat threadworms and roundworms.

Due to its extortionate cost in the UK (100 GBP per tablet) it is usually only recommended for scabies which is resistant to the more common anti parasitics such as Lyclear cream and Derbac lotion.

Ivermectin is also used for River Blindness and chronic Strongyloides. Strongyloides is a nematode infection which commonly affects birds and reptiles as well as humans. Relimeds uses the brand by Sun Pharma, Ivermectol.

Possible Side Effects

Aggravation of itching

Fever

Skin rash

Muscle pain

Increased heart rate (tachycardia)

Abdominal pain

Loss of appetites

Diarrhoea

Dose

Scabies – take 200 micrograms per kg of body weight for one dose. For example, if your weight is 80Kg (12.5 stones) then the dose is 16mg or 3 tablets. A further dose may be required.

River Blindness – 150 micrograms per kg of body weight. May require another dose in 6-12 months.

Chronic Strongyloides – 200 micrograms per kg of body weight daily for two days.
